My name is Lee and I am a 20 year old backpacker/hitchhiker from The Netherlands. I'm hitchhiking all over the world by myself. With this I try to discover the world and different cultures from all over the globe. I don't need an expensive and boring university to become wise. I use the open road and the kindness of million strangers to get rich of knowledge!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COUNTRY SO FAR?
Probably Iran for its people and diversity of landscapes.
WHAT PLACE IS TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
It's so hard to say, but I'm really fascinated by countries that are not easy to enter. Like North Korea, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. But I also really want to go to Canada, I have a great interest in that country. Also for the U.S. and it's southern states. But my number one has to be Afghanistan, because when I was hitchhiking in the UAE I got picked up by the son of the ambassador of Afghanistan and he invited me to his home in Kabul. I can't refuse that offer...
WHAT CAN'T YOU TRAVEL WITHOUT?
From a Realistic view, my passport of course. But personally, good shoes and a 'I don't give a shit' attitude, Without that I would be nowhere.
DO YOU PREFER SOLO TRAVEL OR WITH SOMEONE ELSE?
WHO IS THE PERSON AT HOME THAT YOU MISS THE MOST?
WHICH COUNTRY HAS THE MOST FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE?
Iran again, these people are so amazingly friendly and kind, you just have to experience it yourself. But as soon as you leave the western world, the people become more and more friendly. Islamic and other really religious countries are by far the most hospitable.
TRAVELING brings us love, joy, it changes our beliefs and perceptions in life. It can make us better and stronger people. Through TRAVELING we learn to love, to forgive. to broaden our horizons. The best part of TRAVELING is to meet people along the way with whom we share stories, with whom we become friends, for that moment and possibly forever.
